Before Starting
Groups allow you to segment your CRM. This can be done manually or automatically based on specific criteria.
It is also possible to choose administrators specifically for a group and to delegate certain functions and their associated tools.
This article covers the following points:
The Different Types of Groups
Simple Groups
Your contacts are all different, so its important your CRM reflects that. Groups allow you to segment your contacts based on age, activity or function in the organization.
With AssoConnect, you can assign group members manually (to regular groups) or automatically (to dynamic groups). Additionally, a person can belong to several groups.
For more information on regular and dynamic groups, check out this article.
Advanced Groups
Is your organization composed of groups that are more or less independent (sections, chapters, etc.)? If so, then advanced groups can allow you to link them to your organization's main platform.
Just like for simple groups, advanced groups are "child" platforms, linked to a "parent" platform. However, these "child" platforms have more autonomy and a larger choice of features they can use than a simple group. Furthermore, an advanced group can have its own simple groups.
How Groups Work
Features
A simple group allows you mainly to segment your community, and give access to the group to a limited number of features, namely:
- Their own CRM
- Attendance lists
- Sending simple emails and email campaigns
An advanced grouped has access to all the features (CRM, email campaigns, website, events, online store...). Additionally, they can manage themselves more or less independently, without needing the main platform to intervene.
Choosing an Administrator for a Group
You can appoint an admin by group, and delegate the group's management to them.
They will be able to manage their own account, add people to their group and use the features that you've made accessible to them.
Information Fields Linked to a Group
You can define information fields that are only requested from members of a certain group from the page Community > Settings. These information fields will not be asked to anyone registering that is not a member of that group.
