The payment link is THE best way to easily and quickly collect online payments for your organization. It saves you time, allows you to say goodbye to checks, and modernizes your organization. This article explains:
What is a Payment Link?
A payment link is a convenient and secure way to request an online payment.
It can be used in various contexts, such as for following up on an unpaid bill, rendering service, or even for fundraising.
Rather than sharing sensitive banking information (e.g., bank account details), it enables you to securely collect a chosen amount from your contacts in just a few clicks.
How it works
In 3 simple steps ⤵️
Creating a Payment Link
No time to read? Check out this quick tutorial video!
Go to Payments > Payment Link, click on "Create a payment link".
In the panel, specify:
- The recipient(s) - either contacts from the Community or email addresses. You can add up to 10 people.
- The requested amount - the same for everyone,
- The description - a short message to reassure the recipient and increase the chances of payment. A unique payment link is generated and directly sent by email.
All generated links are displayed in the table on the dedicated page. You can copy them and resend them to the recipients by other means of communication.
As long as the payment has not been made:
- its status is "Payment Requested",
- the link remains usable for 15 days unless an administrator deactivates it beforehand.
Link reception and Payment by the Recipient
Each recipient receives an email containing a personal and secure link like this:
When they click on "Pay", they are directed to a secure page detailing the payment to be made.
Payment is made by credit card.
If you opted for a suggested tip instead of transaction fees, this choice also applies to the payment link.
The recipient enters their credit card information, completes the security verification with their bank, and receives a transaction confirmation email.
Updating Information on the Platform
Once the payment is made, 3 pieces of information are updated:
- In Payments > Payment Link, the payment status changes from "Requested" to "Paid",
- The requested amount arrives in the online account, accessible from Payments > Wallet.
- For Pro offers, the payment is automatically recorded in your Accounting documents.
Security Around Payment Links
The security of payment links is a major concern at Springly, as these are online financial transactions.
Here are some common measures taken to ensure the security of payment links:
- Payment links are secured with encryption (HTTPS) to protect user information.
- Bank authentication is required, such as an SMS or validation through the bank's app.
- Links expire after 15 days to prevent fraud. They can also be deactivated earlier by the administrator.
- Users receive notification emails for each payment made or refused, allowing for the detection of suspicious activities.
- Suspicious activities can be reported in 1 click to our services, and the concerned links can then be deactivated by us.
- Springly and Adyen adhere to high-security standards, such as PCI DSS standards, to protect sensitive data.
- Personal and financial data are processed securely, with special attention to privacy.
While everything is implemented by Springly to ensure maximum security, administrators must also be aware of the risks and take measures to protect their information. For example: avoid sharing payment links through unsecured channels.
