With Springly, tax receipts, and payment receipts are generated at the click of a button and can be e-mailed automatically. These receipts are also available in the member's private space!
This article details the parameterization of the receipts issued with the software:
Tax receipts
To issue receipts, it is necessary to set up the organization's information in advance, on the Settings > Tax Receipts.
For more information on this subject, we invite you to read the article on administrative information about your association.
Enable tax receipts
Activate Tax receipts from the Settings > Tax Receipts → Set-Up & Customize Tax Receipts page.
Specify the deduction rate and the date from which receipts are issued on your Springly platform.
Once activated, tax receipts will be systematically issued for all your donation forms.
Note: You may have issued tax receipts before using Springly. The date indicated here refers to the date from which you issued these receipts via your Springly platform.
Issue tax receipts for memberships, events, or stores
In addition to donations, tax receipts can also be issued for membership forms, event tickets, and online stores.
To do this, go to the configuration of the membership form, event, or online store. Select 4. Payment Options and click on More options.
The tax receipt generated covers the entire order. So if someone registers for an event (e.g. a charity event) and takes an additional option (e.g. a paid dinner), the tax receipt will cover the entire order, admission to the event and dinner.
Generate a tax receipt after the donation
It is possible to generate a tax receipt after the donation has been made.
For example:
- the tax receipt function had not been activated and donations were made;
- the tax receipt issue start date entered was later than the actual issue start date, and a donation was made within this timeframe.
Illustration
The donation is made in March 2024. On your platform, you have activated tax receipts. Due to an input error, the date for issuing tax receipts is 01/01/2025, i.e. in the future.
On March 18th, 2024, Linda donates $10 to your association. As the donation is made before the date on which tax receipts are issued, no tax receipt is automatically generated and sent to your donor.
However, she does have access to a receipt confirming her payment, which she can download.
To correct this error, you can change the issue date of tax receipts from Settings > Tax receipts for the exact date: 01/01/2024 (as explained here).
Go to the donation made by your donor:
- go to Forms & Campaigns > Donations > Manage your donors,
- and then click on the detail of the transaction,
- on the transaction, click on the button to generate the tax receipt to which the donor is entitled:
Clicking on the button generates the tax receipt and sends it automatically to the donor by e-mail. It also becomes accessible from the page, as well as from the donor's profile.
Tax receipts can be generated for transactions dating back a maximum of 2 years. For any transaction over 2 years, you cannot generate these tax receipts via Springly.
Payment receipts
Several documents can be issued to the buyer, starting with a certificate of payment issued when the sum due has been paid. It is written proof that the organization has received payment in full.
Sample receipt for payment via membership/event form:
For donations, this document is issued by default if tax receipts are not activated. If they are, then no "receipt for payment" is generated.
Now you know how to set up these documents!
