Before starting
With Springly you are able to organize your contacts, into groups, and your database, into fields and information categories.
Thus, to leverage both, you can now create information categories and limit them to specific groups, so you can gather certain information only from some of them.
Below you will find the details on how to do so.
Enabling category restriction
From the main platform
To enable this setting, first, you need to have at least a custom category. You can find the steps here: Creating information categories.
Now, just select your desired group under Restrict this category to a group, either at the moment of creation or by clicking on the Edit button () of one that you already have.
After, a note will appear at the top of that category with the message: Information limited to XYZ group, plus an icon identifying it as a restricted category.
From an advanced group
Open your advanced group from the Community > Groups page.
Then go to Community > Settings from that group. This page lists the information requested for group members.
- Fields created at the general level and requested for all members, cannot be modified from within the group.
- However, you can add or modify categories or information fields that will correspond to your group members.
By default, fields and categories created at group level will not be restricted to it. You will need to activate this option when creating them.
You can also edit a category already restricted to an advanced group to restrict it to a simple group attached to that advanced group.
Displayed fields when registering online
Fields limited to a group will only be requested when registering in the following cases:
- In the membership form, the enrollee chooses a tariff which, once selected, will add him to the group linked to the field.
- Dynamic groups will not be proposed in the affection list. Only fields restricted to fixed groups will be requested when registering.
- When the registration is completed and once enrollees have chosen a service, they can enter information limited to the group on the next page.
