From the Emailing > Lists page, you create and manage your lists of recipients for sending your emailing campaigns. Lists make it easier to target the right audience for a given communication. Once the list has been created, it can be reused for other campaigns.
How mailing lists work
There are two types of mailing lists:
- Linked to your Community: groups created in Community > Groups.
- Not linked to your Community: created manually or via newsletter subscription.
Community Listings
They are based on groups created from the Community > Groups page:
- A fixed group populates a list based on members added and removed as they go,
- A dynamic group generates a list automatically updated according to a criterion.
On the Emailing > Lists page, you'll find a list for each group.
Non-Community lists
Emailing lists not linked to your Community are created by manually adding email addresses import via Excel file).
They can also be emails retrieved via the newsletter registration widget displayed on your site.
These lists enable you to optimize the number of people in your database (determining the amount of your subscription). This allows you to add contacts to a list not linked to the Community without importing them into the Contacts list.
Recipient status
The 4 possible statuses
List recipients are classified according to 4 categories :
- Recipients with an a priori valid email address, who have not unsubscribed.
- Please note: if several people share the same address, they will only receive a campaign email once.
- Unsubscribers: either manually (by clicking on an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the e-mail), or automatically following a permanent rejection.
- People without an e-mail address - from this list, you can easily add an e-mail address,
- People whose email addresses have been identified as invalid, and who will therefore not receive an email.
Only people with recipient status will receive your email campaigns.
Contacts added to a list not linked to the Community necessarily have an email address. So there are only 3 categories: recipients, unsubscribers and emails identified as invalid.
Managing unsubscribes and re-subscribes for a recipient
When a recipient unsubscribes, they are unsubscribed from all lists to which they belonged. This also applies to advanced group lists that are not independent of the main platform.
To find unsubscribed people, go to Emailing > Lists, click on the list you are interested in, and then "Unsubscribed".
If it's an error, you can re-register a person.
Never re-subscribe someone unless they've asked you to, as this will damage your sending reputation and your deliverability.
Re-registration will change its status from unregistered to received. As de-registration and re-registration are globalized, the status applies to all lists.
