The bank reconciliation is a control tool to verify the concordance between the accounting balance and the bank balance.
It, therefore, consists of comparing, over a given period, accounting entries and banking transactions in order to identify any inconsistencies at the origin of a discrepancy. This can be explained and it is precisely the comparison that makes it possible to identify the reason or the corrections to be made.

Discover the discrepancy in the reconciliation statement
If you have just finished pointing a statement and a discrepancy remains, it will be displayed in the reconciliation statement interface.
This difference corresponds to the difference between the balances:
- Bank: the end-of-month balance that you indicate in the statement settings.
- Accounting: the balance obtained by adding tallied entries + balance at the start of the period.

The left column displays the difference calculated according to the score made. A period-end book balance is determined by adding:
- The book balance at the beginning of the period.
- The sum of entries pointed to over the period.
This ending book balance is compared to the bank balance (balance statement) to calculate the difference.
The right column displays the difference calculated from the accounting balances of your documents (visible for example in the General Ledger by filtering via a given 512 account). All entries related to account 512 concerned are taken into account, whether they are pointed or not.

Once the statement has been validated, it is possible to display the reconciliation report by clicking on download the reconciliation report.
This document summarizes the balances and gives a possible explanation indicating whether the discrepancy is in the accounts or in the bank.
